Hmmm, where do we begin. Oh yeah, first our story and then a little info about our site.
We are Brian and Deana-Marie Berry and live in Northern California. We both have a proclivity for DIY projects, culinary art, photography, and gardening/landscaping just to name a few. I guess one could say, our creative ways and hands-on approach were a part of our genetic make-up from the very beginning.
At an early age, Brian along with the Berry clan moved from the San Francisco, Bay Area to the country. Brian's father quickly disposed of the television and replaced it with a shop and 20 acres; what we now refer to as The Lazy B. This is where Brian gained his rudimentary knowledge of carpentry and metal working.
Meanwhile, Deana-Marie and family moved from Milwaukee, Wisconsin to an 80-acre farm in Northern Minnesota. From the time she could pick up a pencil, her fasination for drawing grew. Years following, she added painting, crafting, gardening, and a few others to her repertoire.
Together, the birth of "The Craftsman Chronicles" was destined.
So what's the meaning and purpose of "The Craftsman Chronicles"? The name has a dual meaning, or a plethora of meanings should we say. As stated in our first post "... may this inspire your inner craftsman ..." (our motto), we define craftsman as a person who practices or is highly skilled in a craft; artisan. In addition, we define chronicles as an account of historical events, presented in the order in which the events took place; a timeline. So what does all this gibberish mean? In layman's terms ... we practice various projects, such as: the remodel of our turn-of-the-century, craftsman style bungalow on The Lazy B, and our many other endeavors as stated earlier; and would like to share the account of these said events with our readers.
Part of our motivation is that we are amateur craftsman, the classic "Jack & Jill of all trades, masters of none," and can attribute much of our knowledge base from other blogs that share our common interests. So instead of just lurking, we thought we'd break out and try contributing to the community.
We hope our blog will provide a forum not only to share our experiences but also a venue for our readers to ask questions, provide suggestions, and share your experiences as well!
